Hi Cactus Flower,

I have a very bright republican friend, he's a retired CEO, now lives in liberal Santa Fe.
His neighbors are Valerie Plame & Joe Wilson, serves him right ;))

Yet, this bright man supported Cain & 9-9-9, and now favors Newt.
He argues, if folks can vote for Clinton, why not Newt?

I told him Newt is NO Bill Clinton! and Bill & Hillary are still married, Bill didn't serve divorce papers as Hillary recovered from cancer...etc..
I reminded him, Newt changes his opinion in the SAME sentence.

I am amazed & have lost intellectual respect, mostly for his support of Cain.

I don't think Romney is in the race. He just appears to be because the Tea Party vote is split. As other candidates leave the field, he isn't going to pick up votes. That much is surely apparent.

My view of Gingrich - he's a shoot from the hip "ideas" guy. The ideas blow away in any breeze. But by then he's onto his next "idea".

Substantial is not a word I associate with his thinking. I see almost everything he does as an attempt to satisfy a fairly gigantic ego. But the ego will never be satiated.
