I wonder what would the public commentary would be if people started to demand that we boycott eating food which complies with Kosher dietary laws?
I read awhile back that while major grocery chains almost all have sections where they highlight that the products are Kosher, that virtually none of them have section for Halal labeled foods. But that it does not present any problems since their Muslim customers who wish to abide by their dietary restrictions simply shop in the Kosher section since the religious laws concerning what is or is not Kosher are virtually identical to those for Halal. We have an market where we shop sometimes which is run an Iranian family and it very popular, as you would expect, with people of middle-Eastern ancestry (as well as anyone else looking for good fresh fruit and vegetables as reasonable prices) and it's amazing that a large percentage of the prepackaged foods (can goods and boxed items) are imported from Israel. The store owner knows that if it was produced in Israel it will be acceptable for consumption by Muslims. And yet we get these wackos who thinks that if something is Halal it's somehow anti-American or anti-Cristian yet they never blink an eye when they pick up a can or box and see that letter 'K' up in the left or right hand corner of the label.
