OWS provides good example of conflict between first amendment right to assemble and ownership rights in the land upon which people choose to assemble.
Does wealth trump freedom of assembly by virtue of the fact that protesters usually have to assemble on private property? Or is there an obligation implicit in the first amendment that the government will provide a place in which people may assemble in order to protest?
What value is a right to assemble if it is governed by ownership of a plot of land?
At least speech freedom is protected by the fact that everyone has access to the internet, either privately or via the public library.
