Except that in Australia tipping is not a common thing as waitresses/waiters there are paid a 'living wage' and tipping is generally only small token amounts, more of a way of recognizing really good service rather than paying for it. In fact, it's best to personally hand the tip to the manager and ask that he/she see that it gets to the person who waited on you, therefore achieving the maximum desired impact.
