My 12 year old was called up for round 2 of testing for the Jeopardy kids'week shows. 500 get this far each year, out of about 20,000 who try.
Unfortunately, kids who pass today's 2nd round testing get their names put into a 'hat' and are randomly called up to appear on TV. The other 485 will never hear how they did. There's a lot of luck involved in getting onto the show.
