Understood. As it displays itself over foreign policy, it seems to be able to contort reason into servile loyalty, humanism into racial preference and the principles of individual liberty within the rule of law into naked chauvinism.
Odd how these things work.
As a person who tries to avoid discriminating between types of people and who instead considers himself a humanist, I find US policy a little troubling in this regard. I am not so pristine that I would treat North Korea equally with the South. But I think Mr Abbas and his part of Palestine deserve their state. Over US objections, which are motivated by second-tier principles, at best.
