Some very good news! It looks like my land purchase is going through! My lawyer wrote today to say that the Selectmen's meeting last night went our way on BOTH of the issues that were put to a vote - the right to build on the land despite the limited road frontage, and the right to turn the property into a farm despite it being zoned residential.
That last is important since the community could otherwise restrict my right to put up a barn or raise animals.
The decision can be challenged over the next 30 days, and the lawyer recommends I not close until that period has passed. That takes me into mid-December, but I think I can now prove the "good faith effort" that is required to extend the closing date.
Sooo, after ten years of drooling over everyone else's farmable land, it looks like I'm less than a month away from actually doing something about it.
