Online push for fake Walker recall petitions

MILWAUKEE - The effort to recall Wisconsin Republican Governor Scott Walker has turned ugly on Facebook.
A number of people have posted comments threatening to sabotage the petition process.
One man writes, "I'll be taking those petitions and shredding them when I am done."
Another writes, "Show me the law against making up a petition, having people sign it and then burning it."
That author insists it's a joke that got out of hand.
The Wisconsin Democratic Party doesn't find humor in the postings.
"We went from practical joke to, evidently, 10 o'clock news, but there's not truth behind it," said Matt Lepperd, one of the comment posters.
"These folks want to create confusion. They want to sow fear. That's their (modus operandi)," claimed Democratic Party of Wisconsin Communications Director Graeme Zielinski.
In a written statement, the Republican Party of Wisconsin tells TODAY'S TMJ4 it does not condone or support any misconduct or foul play by any outside groups or rogue individuals to interfere with the process.

At the same time that this was being reported, Republican members of the Wisconsin legislature are suggesting that the Wisconsin election board will be directed to consider any duplicate names found on petitions as being invalid and ALL instances will be stricken from the list of petition signatures. Which means that anyone who suspects that they were asked to sign a petition by one of these frauds and who then attempts to sign a 'legitimate' petition, if the fake petitions are somehow accepted as valid, they could be risking having their names removed altogether. Also, the Republican controlled legislature is considering a bill which would go even further, making it a CRIME, with appropriate punishment, to sign a petition more than once.
