so-called 'anti-bullying' law which is in the states legislature would exempt kids who pick on classmates due to 'values' given them by their parents. Basically, if your parents hate gays or immigrants or blacks, if you then use that as the argument why you beat-up a gay or immigrant or minority,

...that makes about as much sense as excusing somebody for beating their wife because their dad beat their mother. Somewhere along the line ya gotta draw the line and make folks responsible for their own actions.

I'm in Detroit at the moment and I just saw that advert on TV.

The other thing making the news here is the big blow-up over that so-called 'anti-bullying' law which is in the states legislature would exempt kids who pick on classmates due to 'values' given them by their parents. Basically, if your parents hate gays or immigrants or blacks, if you then use that as the argument why you beat-up a gay or immigrant or minority, that you could not be charged with breaking the law because you were simply expressing the Constitutional free-speech rights. The republican controlled state legislature had assumed that no one would say anything about it, but since it's been picked-up by the national media they are falling all over themselves claiming that they had assumed that this was never going to be passed and that this 'exemption' was put in to placate the religious right, but would then be quietly removed later on (in other words, they were simply pandering to their base with no intention of following through so not only are they scumbags, they're frauds).
