ribit,

Continuing with your assertion that the USPS has competitors...

the Post Office has competitors to SOME of its services. But not all. And not to its main service - 1st Class Letter Delivery.

From Wikipedia,

Article I, section 8, Clause 7 of the United States Constitution grants Congress the power to establish post offices and post roads, which has been interpreted as a de facto Congressional monopoly over the delivery of mail. Accordingly, no other system for delivering mail – public or private – can be established, absent Congress's consent. Congress has delegated to the Postal Service the power to decide whether others may compete with it, and the Postal Service has allowed an exception to its monopoly for extremely urgent letters.

mailmen are government employees... paid with money obtained through unfair practices.

...not entirely true. The post office does have competitors but their competitors do not have to have a truck go by every home and business in America five or six days a week just to see if there is something to pick up. Their competitors do not have to pick up a letter at your house and deliver it to grandma's for 42cents or whatever it is now. Mosly their competiotors want the gravy and want the post office to take care of the money losing end of the business.

...that being said, let me also say that the post office is not blameless. The post office has become a minorities jobs program much like the teaching profession. They are also overpaid and underworked. Their healthcare and retirement plans are far too generous compared to what their competitors pay out.
