ROTFLMAO! What utter nonsense. The majority of Americans know ... not just believe, know ... that government is the problem, not the solution. Because that majority of Americans clearly sent this message in the 2010 elections, the Republicans who now control the House have received that message, even though there are still many of the Establishment Republicans who have not fully embraced the People's desire to rein in the federal government. The House has passed 15 bills to scale back government interference with the creation of jobs, but the Democrat leadership of the Democrat-controlled Senate will not even allow them to be considered because they believe more government control is the only answer. Even though Obama's past initiatives to go much further into hock to supposedly stimulate more job growth by applying more government control, lending billions to bankrupt "green" companies owned by his cronies, and send billions and billions of dollars to formerly privately held companies to prop up union jobs and to states to prop up unionized public sector jobs have proven to be abject failures (as history has told us time and time again would be the case Rolling Eyes ), Obama simply wants to double down on more of the same ol' failing policy. The majority of the American electorate has already pronounced their displeasure with this Democrat "more government is the answer" idiocy, so the Republicans are not going along. What you have is political stalemate, not so-called "stalling efforts," as suggested in this disingenuously slanted question ... the Democrats don't like Republican ideas and won't act on them and the Republicans don't like Democrat ideas and won't act on them. It will be up to the American people to decide in 2012 whether this political logjam continues or breaks toward one side over the other, pure and simple as that.

Poll: Even Wingers Think That Wingers are Tanking the Economy
—By Kevin Drum

Via Steve Benen, here's a fascinating little poll result. It's from Suffolk University, and it's limited to registered voters in Florida, but it's still the first time I've ever seen this question polled:

Do you think the Republicans are intentionally stalling efforts to jumpstart the economy to insure that Barack Obama is not re-elected?

Results are below. What's interesting isn't just that half of all voters think the answer is yes, it's the breakdown: A quarter of all Republicans and a third of all conservatives also think the answer is yes. In other words, this isn't just a liberal conspiracy theory. Even a lot of conservatives recognize what's going on. I wouldn't make too much of a single state poll, but those numbers are high enough that they might represent a glimmering recognition of something that's only been Beltway chatter up to now. If even their own supporters start to believe that they're deliberately tanking the economy for partisan gain, it could spell trouble for Republicans. It would be interesting to see further polling on this question at a national level.

Assuming, of course, that conservatives who understand what's going on actually disapprove of this. If they hate Obama enough, they might think it's actually a fine and dandy strategy.
