What's your source? It seems you're too quick to judge. Reports are saying a LOT of things.
Reuters: "Protest organizers say the ex-Marine was hit by a tear gas canister fired by police. City and police officials have not said how they believe Olsen was hurt but Jordan has opened an investigation into the incident."
The Associated Press: "It’s not known exactly what type of object struck Olsen or who might have thrown it, though Guy’s group said it was lodged by officers."
JSOnline: "Scott Olsen, 24, who served two tours of Iraq, was struck by an unidentified object as Oakland police and Occupy Wall Street demonstrators clashed. Some witnesses said Olsen was hit by a tear-gas canister; others said it was a rubber bullet fired by police."
