The folks that define the message for the writers who put together the talking points have been at work from day one.
Day One message: [opposition] these OWS people are ridiculous losers. The police must stop them.
Day Two OWS response: Occupy. March. (leads to arbitrary arrests). Crowds increase.
Day Three message: [misdirection] these people don't have anything coherent to say - see, I've found a lunatic in the crowd who gobbles like a turkey (and we're resolutely ignoring the obvious message of a movement called Ocuppy WALL STREET).
Day Four OWS response: we are the 99% and we are troubled by inequality - of employment, of wealth and before the law. And we are not stoopid. We know that Wall Street destroyed the mortgage market and the economy and they have paid no price. Crowds increase.
Day Five message: [diversion] we support OWS, but they should take their message to the White House as it is the government's fault, not the banks.
Day Six OWS response: who are those idiots who don't get it. Crowds increase.
Day Seven message: [subversion] those guys at OWS are Nazis, Jew-haters, socialist, lazy, job-hating scum.
Day Eight OWS response: we are the 99%, and we know you guys in the 1% think this of the rest of us. This is why we are here. Crowds increase.
Day Nine message: [negation] OWS is hypocritical - they complain about the banks and yet they use money, they complain about the behaviour of rich human beings, and they themselves are human. etc.
And so it goes on. Unpatriotic is surely coming somewhere here. Anything but actually listen.
They are trying very hard to strangle this baby in the cradle. For Gawd's sake, don't give the people a voice.
