Get out the books, some are pretty tasty as you saw in the article! Great pics, fly n all... They look pretty grainy, maybe aging, a bit, been nice to catch then as they just erupted... I see some strange ones from time to time, big, 4" pure white as they develop under the leaves, then they darken when exposed... Never a gambler, the toxic versions are nasty, folks die as it kills the liver, a few recover, but why gamble.. My middle brother and his kids used to make a decent amount of money up the coast, gathering wild mushrooms, there are local buyers, everyone knows all their own secret areas in the forests around the area.. Some the animals beat everyone to the tastiest... And some of the tree ones, tho tough, are edible..
Funny think my fisher brother, has all the Latin names on the tip of his tongue.. Another guy I met years ago, a Telco Outside Plant repairman, 6-4 like my brother, also was a microbiologist, on the side so he knew what he was after back in the days of trotting through the woods gobbling up little teensy special mushrooms.. Said he'd be gone a couple days on a Spring rain... Trippin' out... Never judge a book by it's cover!
