Realist - Everybody in America is soft, and hates conflict. The cure for this, both in politics and social life, is the same -- hardihood. Give them raw truth.

Heh. Gold is up $37.00/oz right now.

You would probably be surprised at how confident I am about gold. When you've held it for more than a couple of years, you get familiar with market conditions and investor sentiment like gold has experienced since September. You come to understand that what people are saying is truly NO BIG DEAL. Very few people understand down deep that the currency printing now underway is *NOT* going to end. Ending the debasement would be too painful, politically. Most people don't realize it, but an ENORMOUS amount of the Federal government is now financed through the issuance of new debt.

Since meaningful spending cuts amount to political suicide these days, politicians almost always cave in to the pressure to just continue the money printing and HOPE that they can get through another election before the economy implodes.

Those who even bother to think about such things don't know when the implosion will come. I don't either, but I *have* concluded that it is inevitable. Ponzi schemes DO NOT WORK. Ever. I believe the math over the rhetoric.

So, gold is a comfort, and the day-to-day distractions that mostly seem to excite the people who are NOT invested in gold carry little weight with me.
