Pay Up! Majority Of Americans Want More Taxes On The Rich

Written by Casey Gane-McCalla, Lead Blogger on October 4, 2011 10:30 am

Sixty four percent of Americans want more taxes on people making more than a million dollars a year, while 30 percent want the taxes on the rich to stay the same.

The poll shows support for President Obama’s “Buffett Rule” named after the billionaire who also believes that the rich should be taxed more.

...there is no evidence to support wide majority of americans wanting higher taxes for anyone.

...a flat tax is not regressive. A regressive tax is one where the folks at the bottom are paying a higher rate than the folks at the top.

...there are not enough millionaires to have any significant effect on the deficit if you took all they had and applied it there.

...it's not the top one percent thats screwing the rest. It's the bottom 51 percent who pay no taxes at all and therefore don't care how much anything costs.
