For those who actually care, I heard some interesting tax stats on the radio this morning. I'll leave it to those here who doubt them to vet the numbers - since what I hear on the radio is usually, but not always, correct.
The top 20 percent of income earners pay 97 percent of all taxes.
The bottom 50 percent of income earners pay no income taxes.
The bottom 50 percent of income earners receive 85 percent of the benefits from government.
This is clearly unsustainable. We CANNOT continue with a tax system where half of the participants have no skin in the game. They will CONSISTENTLY vote to receive more than they give and will bring the entire system down.
I encourage anyone who disagrees to explain why.
