ribit,
re: "...if da cops is just violent and goin around assaulting folks, how come it didn't happen at the T Party Protests?"
Oh, I'm sure it's what you think. Americans have a right to PEACEABLY ASSEMBLE. Not a right to riot, or a right to assault others, or a right to violate the orders of a police officer.
However, Thomas Jefferson once wrote that the "tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants. It is its natural manure." I believe he meant the part about "blood" quite literally - as, in other writings, he reiterated his belief that violence would probably be required every twenty years or so - if Americans expected to keep their freedoms.
So, while you defend the police who are, I'm sure, upholding THE LAW at these OWS protests, I'm making the point that blind and toothless acceptance of THE LAW is not really what our founders expected of patriotic Americans.
All that said, I am reaching a conclusion that the OWS is a very unAmerican protest, not focused on much in particular except the personal greed of those who protest. I do *NOT* want America turning into a Socialist or Communist paradise, and I don't see anything good coming out of the OWS rallies except, perhaps, for general recognition by the public that the protesters are an insincere, confused and deluded lot.
As I've previously suggested, protesting Wall Street without also protesting the government that supports and empowers Wall Street, is thoroughly misguided.
