Naw. On this one, I'm going with ribit's earlier answer. The woman the officer struck is probably guilty.
The video doesn't show what happened immediately before the officer hit her. You can bet there was *something* - and the cameraman didn't have the honesty/guts/integrity to show it. Ergo, it was obviously something serious.
In this, it differs from the pepper spray incident that I posted. In my video, you could see that the officer wasn't 'involved' at all with the women he sprayed. He just came in and did it. In my book, that makes it assault. Throw the book at the bum.
That's why I disagreed with ribit on that one, but disagree with YOU on this one. Police have the right to defend themselvs, and to do what's necessary to subdue someone who is resisting arrest or threatening someone else. Ribit can probably give us a lot more info on the subject.
