The Ovid part is particularly interesting. Arthur Golding was De Vere's uncle and tutor when he was living as a ward in Cecil's house. Golding's translation of Ovid was the only one of his numerous translations and other authorial outputs that was...lascivious. I mean Ovid was all about sex and Golding was puritanical. But the 15 year old De Vere just might be a better candidate for actually having done the translation as an exercise in Latin/English translation and then his uncle put his name on it. And Ovid is Shakespeare's most used source along with the Geneva bible. The bible that De Vere had over a thousand correspondences with Shakespeare in the marginalia.
