I write about technology, games, and culture.

This video via James Fallows, is hard to watch. During the ‘Occupy Wall Street‘ protests this Saturday, several young women involved in the protest were corralled off behind a police net. As they stood there, obviously not doing anything other than shouting, two policemen approach. One reaches out and pepper sprays two of the women in the face.

And then they walk away.

This isn’t police work. It’s violence for the love of violence – just another way to inflict pain for your own enjoyment. I’m not sure if it’s just a political thing, or some bizarre animosity toward women, but whatever it was it was most certainly not a police officer using pepper spray in an “appropriate way” as the New York Times is reporting a spokesman of the NYPD having stated.
