Here's an example of the type of 'Occupy Wall Street' misinformation that I find so frustrating. In looking for photos from protests, I see the guy below, suggesting that the top One Percent are paying no taxes. He's DEAD wrong! The top One Percent pay FORTY PERCENT of all American taxes. It's RIDICULOUS how much they pay.
"Fairness," imo, means that all taxpayers pay THE SAME. An alternate approach that I would disagree with due to implementation problems but still might support philosophically would be for taxpayers pay according to what they USE. Figure out how to measure what's being used and I could agree with it.
The current system, though, where citizens pay according to how hard they work (and hence, what they earn) is sickening. It's as far from "FAIR" as I think it's possible to get.
