I personally believe that Rather was taken in by the fraud, but he had an obligation to thoroughly investigate the material before broadcasting. For that, and for his over-eagerness to nail the Texas Deserter, he deserved to be fired.

...dan rather "accidentally" used forged documents to fabricate a story about GW Bush amid a race for the presidency? Hardly an accident sport fan. Hardly an accident at all. It wasn't even "spin". It was a bald faced fabrication.
