Bruce Bartlett, former Reagan & George H.W. Bush Administration official, says the Fed hasn't been active enough. "Maybe it's gone too far in some respects- but not far in another," he says. "It needs to communicate a different philosophy. Targeting nominal GDP is one way the Fed can talk about inflation without spooking markets."
