Christie to Make 1 P.M. Announcement
By MICHAEL D. SHEAR
Chris Christie, the Republican governor of New Jersey, has scheduled a 1 p.m. news conference for Tuesday afternoon in Trenton to announce his decision about a possible presidential run.
Mr. Christie and his top advisers have spent the weekend re-evaluating the possibility of a late entry into the Republican contest after repeatedly saying he would not run.
But the decision to hold a press conference in the New Jersey capital strongly suggests that he will not run. An announcement of a presidential campaign would likely involve a more organized political event like a rally.
