‘Occupy Wall Street’ Enters Third Week

Will the NYPD’s arrest of over 700 protesters on Saturday fuel support for Occupy Wall Street? The protests enter their third week Monday, with similar demonstrations now taking place in other cities like Chicago, Boston, and Los Angeles before the Federal Reserve Banks. Overall, 1,000 people have been arrested, including the 700 who entered the Brooklyn Bridge roadway Saturday. They claim police led them onto the bridge before cutting them off and locking them up. In a show of solidarity, Salman Rushdie tweeted, "The world's economy has been wrecked by these rapacious traders. Yet it is the protesters who are jailed."
