My uncle was the ordnance guy for his unit in Europe during WWII. It allowed him to carry and try out every weapon available. He preferred to carry the Thompson.

...nope, not worth a flip for long distances. The sights only have two settings. Ya could probaly hit a target at a hundred, possibly 200 yards but anything over that is out of the question. It was effective in the pacific in WWII for cleaning out caves before they started using bulldozers and just started burying em alive. In the European theatre they were used mostly by officers or senior non-coms.
