Sept. 22, 2011, 2:55 p.m. EDT
SAN FRANCISCO (MarketWatch) -- Oil futures settled 6.3% lower on Thursday, as crude and other commodities lost ground as investors flocked to cash after disappointment at the Federal Reserve bond swap program and had doubts it would help the economy and, by extension, demand for oil. Crude for November delivery retreated $5.41 to settle at $80.51 a barrel on the New York Mercantile Exchange, leading losses among energy-related commodities. October gasoline declined 11 cents, or 4%, to end at $2.56 a gallon.
