You know, clo, in this day and age, there isn't usually a "top two." It's usually a top ONE - with the winner identified well before the election.
If the goal is to vote for someone who can win, why vote at all, when you already know with a near certainty who will win? THE #2 CANDIDATE OFTEN CANNOT WIN.
This is the flaw in your reasoning.
If Americans do not rebel... and I mean SOON... against this new policy of voting for whoever pollsters like, Democracy will be as good as dead. Democracy needs people to vote for who they think is BEST.
