Hi tkc,

You may be right. What a tragic way to conduct foreign policy. If that is so, I hope the US is marginalised from the discussion. Of course, it won't be. And the US will continue to pretend that the anger directed towards them from the Arab world is strange and impossible to understand.

Egypt, Turkey, Jordan, Iraq, Lebanon and Syria also hang in the balance, of course, but who cares about them.

Hi CF "Why should they not be given statehood and then negotiate the conditions of separation with Israel on an even footing? Why should statehood be a hostage to peace?" I suspect the simple, albit sad, answer is the up coming Presidential election. U.S. Jews are a large, much needed, Democrat leaning voting bloc. The Pres. can't afford to antagonize them.
