I was curious how long it might be until Obummer makes an official decision on whether to run again.
The obvious thing for me to do was to check on LBJ, the last President who decided against putting his hat into the ring a second time. LBJ's announcement came on March 31, 1968. That was just seven months before the 1968 election. More importantly, it was four months before the August, 1968 Democratic Convention.
The 2012 convention comes only a couple of weeks later than it did in 1968, so March/April is a reasonable guess as to when Obummer will bow out. Until then, he can continue running the country into the ground and pretending to be a viable candidate.
I wonder how long it will be until has campaign contributions begin to dry up. My understanding is that he's already collected a huge amount of cash.
