I had to hop over to RagingBull just to see what "sign post" I'd erected that might have caught your eye. I think it must have been the announcement from May having to do with THIS forum being shut down.
That didn't happen, obviously, but I'm glad my message got your attention.
It wasn't too long ago - probably this year - that I mentioned your name as the ONE old poster I'd known who had jumped on the gold bandwagon even earlier than I had. You might not care, but I still credit you with that. You and one other motivated me to do a serious re-think about nearly everything I believed true. The time and effort I put in, obviously, was well spent - as it proved lucrative to both my education and bank account.
A number of RB members you might remember are still around - but here, not on RagingBull. RagingBull became obnoxious in a number of ways, and most of the old gang got fed up with it. Today, OldCADUser and clo mostly use her political forum, FFFT (it leans to the left). Lkorrow sometimes posts here, but she's more often on the political forum, RANT (it leans to the right.)
tinljhtkh doesn't post too often, but when he does it's usually on ALEA and FFFT. He uses the name joe-taylor and is among my very closest friends.
Beldin is on the RANT board.
Unfortunately, some of TABLE's most influential old members are gone. pmcw created a newsletter that gradually took more and more of his time. Culmus is still living in Germany... He and I exchange e-mails every so often, but I think he tired of arguments on TABLE. kduff came to AtomicBobs for a time, but she graduated to other things (unless she is the elusive "KATHY" who, rumor has it, lurks here on ROUND, putting asterisks on a bunch of my posts... and actually posts on some of the other forums.) Briguy formed a partnership with a military buddy and, the last I heard, was on his way to wealth and fame in the food import/export business. ribit is still the same, ornery (Okay, you'll sometimes find TRACES of humor in his posts) cuss he was many years ago. He uses ROUND, FFFT *and* RANT. pdowd, thankfully, still posts here, despite being the one TABLE/ROUND member who actually hit the big time (thanks to natural gas wells on his property.) T. Boone Pickens consults regularly with pdowd before making investment decisions (LOL!). chrisauten and I still exchange e-mail, on occasion. madpoetva is still floating around here, griping every now and then about me and my ridiculous ideas about gold. He stayed out of gold and is much happier for having put everything into shares of dividend-paying General Electric, Pfizer and Heinz.
There are probably some other names you'd remember that I could drop, but those are the ones I can remember at the moment.
My disillusionment with Keynesian / Socialist policy approaches infinity at this point, and some people think I've tilted toward extremism. I recommend PM, land, liquor, guns, ammunition, food, fuel, foreign currency and foreign residency. I'd very much enjoy hearing your views now that so much of what you told TABLE long ago has indeed occurred. It would be fun to see to what extent our views coincide.
