Hello,

I wonder if your analysis could possibly be missing the fact that MS can not subsume all of the Wave features currently bundled with Dell. It seems to me that you are jumping to conclusions that deny the existence of Wave protected IP that would only allow a very limited set of TPM services in the MS offering.
I highly doubt that there is this fork in the road you are talking about related to the loss of Dell bundling fees. The available published facts related to the ability of Wave to manage the SED and the pre-boot protection and loading of the software stack are protected IP. That would force MS either liscence from Wave, which would in fact make the Dell bundle meaningless as MS will sell far more copies of windows 8 industry wide, or these features would remain as stand alone features offered through the OEM.
What MS is describing at this juncture CAN NOT be accomplished by simply working around Wave. BTW, that is not an opinion. I can not tell you exactly how those details will unfold at this time, but what I can tell you is that you are right about Wave's hiring additional employees in anticipation of a rapidly expanding role in this market.
I must say I am surprised that this board has essentially missed this very important fact. Wave and only Wave provides the type of access to the opal compliant standard SDD and SED drive. Nothing MS has said in public thus far denies that fact. What has not been outlined of course is exactly how and who will be paying Wave, but please do not overlook this key ingrediant or secret sauce as it has been labled in the past.
Again, you are all WAY to quick assert that MS is taking the client side. I think if you revisit your own understanding of the use of the SDD/SED drive for the pre-boot verification of the authenticity of the bios and thus the authenticity of the operating system as a whole you will see that this is exactly what makes Wave a value added feature to MS as well as the TCG as a whole. I think you will find out shortly that this is indeed what Wave has been waiting to hear from MS for at least the last 10-14 months. You need to revisit this conversation from the standpoint of the purchase of the patents from on Mr. Thibideau.
Best wishes, as you are about to be much happier investors.

Janicen

Hi tkc,

Absolutely agree. It's a pushmepullyou. If MS is pushing, then the ERAS product will probably move in volume. If MS is taking the client side, they lose the Dell income flow.

If Wave now has 190 employees, then the fork in the path is definitely right ahead of us. That is the kind of extreme action that surely reveals the existence of a decisive event.
