...schwarz was right. I was there early and there were very few large unit engagements. The so-called leadership was more interested in advancing their careers than winning a war and Lyndon Johnson was only interested in fighting a war if he could do it without breaking anything or killing anybody. We musta dropped a bazillion tons of bombs on uninhabited jungle. LBJ once said that he thought the Nviets would be impressed with our boys willingness to die for their country.
