ribit,

re: "I think anybody the republicans nominate could beat him."

There are still almost 14 months to go. There are some HUGE economic bombshells set to drop between now and then. Obama's circumstances are dire already, but these will seem like the good old days to him by this time next year.

ribit,

re: "I think anybody the republicans nominate could beat him."

That's been my message for a few months. In fact, zzstar vehemently disagreed when I first brought it up. Curiously, though certain I was wrong, he was unwilling to make a modest wager with me on it.

I may never say this again, but he was smart.

We all know what's going to happen next year. Obama will lose to whoever the Repuglicrats pit against him. The big question is, will voters also take out their frustrations on Congress? Most of the senatorial seats up for renewal are currently held by Democrats.
