I'm just surprised that gold isn't an early beneficiary of all this uncertainty. Currencies are in danger. Shouldn't Europeans be flocking to gold by now??
Sure, it's expensive. But it's also in a ten-year uptrend that's showing no sign of cracking. Why wouldn't everyone who's worried be turning to it?
The dollar, after all, is down, but it only takes a few words by Ben Bernanke to send it lower still. I think anyone selling euros and buying dollars would have to be out of their mind.
I don't see anyone UNPRINTING their currency. In the long run, that has to mean less confidence in fiat ... and, ultimately, more demand for gold.
