My concern, children finding guns that are not kept properly, under lock & key.
I agree. Responsible gun owners will keep their guns secured. Another preventative measure is to make sure children understand that some basic gun safety (NRA's Eddie Eagle program comes to mind - http://www.nrahq.org/safety/eddie/ ):
If you see a gun:
STOP!
Don't Touch.
Leave the Area.
Tell an Adult.
As for the suicides, guns are just one of any number of things that can be used - knives, razor blades, pills, cars, etc. The gun is not the cause - merely an implement to choose.

What is the point of rules that are not enforced?
