Bill Maher Tells Leno He Is Tired Of Obama ‘Going Half In On [GOP] Crappy Ideas’

Real Time may be on break, but Bill Maher took a respite from his hiatus to visit Jay Leno and give him an update on how he’s been feeling about President Obama’s moves lately. After a few quick jokes about Sarah Palin and Rep. Michele Bachmann, Maher got to the President, with whom he is very dismayed.
“I’m skeptical when he gives a speech because, where is the follow-up?” Maher suggested, noting that he did like the speech President Obama gave on Thursday but didn’t trust it all that much. Part of the reason he can’t seem to get anything done, though, Maher posited, was that the Republicans simply wouldn’t let him, even when he proposed ideas that were, at their core, Republican. “It’s not the entree they don’t like,” he argued, “it’s the waiter.”
And so he proposed simple advice: “stop trying to make everyone like you– you can give all the money to the rich, they will still call you a socialist.” What it came down to Maher was President Obama “going half-in on their crappy ideas” and getting nothing in return.
Leno brought up the bizarre scheduling of the President’s joint address to Congress, which Maher found ridiculous. Instead of acquiescing to Speaker John Boehner‘s request, Maher proposed a more diplomatic approach: sending a response that said “Hey Leatherface, guess who’s in charge?”
