Thanks for posting that. I'd like to see the actual questions, though. My guess (without knowing if they are available) is that the question was:

Would you like to see the entire Congress voted out?

- as opposed to -

1) Would you like to see your Congressman voted out?
2) Would you like to see the others voted out?


While either poll could theoretically yield the result you quoted, it's only the second approach which would startle me. AMERICANS TEND TO LIKE THIER OWN CONGRESSMAN.

And if you're right, btw, then you're in still bigger trouble. I think almost two thirds of the Congressional seats up for grabs next year are Democratic.

These are historical numbers & these are unusual times. clo

Today's NBC/Wall Street Journal poll showed that 54 percent of Americans would vote out every single member of Congress, including their own, if given the chance.

One thousand voting-age adults were surveyed between August 27 and 31.

The same question has been asked on the polls for about 18 months and this is the highest percentage of people who have ever said they would wipe the congressional slate clean if they could.

In the same poll, 82 percent of respondents said that they disapproved of how members of Congress were doing their jobs — also a historical high.
