Decomp,

Nearly 7 inches of rain came down yesterday!
I was driving in it, 6 am early morning, still dark, it was hairy, had the hazard lights on for a while.
When I got to White Plains they were closing roads due to flooding.
Even when I was coming home at 1 pm many roads were still closed.

Thank goodness this wasn't snow! That's what I keep thinking as the heavens dump these waters on us.
Hope that by the time winter comes the weather is kinder... clo

Hurricane Katia did pretty much what I predicted a week ago - bearing North well before it got close to the U.S. I could see then, just based on where it was at the time, that if Katia followed the same pattern as Irene, it would miss us by a mile... or a hundred miles.

This new storm, Maria, is a different story. It *does* look like it will hit the U.S. The only question is, will its course follow the same pattern as Irene and Katia? If it does . . . look out, Atlantic states!

BTW, something kind of cool about Katia. Since it didn't make landfall, it has swung north and is actually going to start going eastward again. The storm is projected to cross the Atlantic a second time and strike England sometime in the middle of next week!

That doesn't happen too often.
