Nothing too sensitive about THAT. Not in and of itself, though I could see them wanting to confirm the fact before reporting it.
My guess is that he belongs to a politically sensitive group or family, and no one wants to jump the gun and say something that can't easily be taken back. These days, everyone is so touchy...
The gunman will be ID'ed soon enough, and I'm not going to speculate on what that's going to tell us. Maybe nothing . . . but it does seem as if unusual care is being taken to keep this thing under control.
