clo,

Of course, Congress is *always* despised.

I remember, ten or more years ago, a poll that said Americans overwhelming believe Congress is doing a lousy job.

The same poll stated that Americans overwhelmingly believe THEIR OWN Congressmen were doing a fine job.

What does that tell us? It tells us that while Americans hate the representation, money and political favors being bestowed upon others, they want it for themselves. It tells us that Americans are a greedy, short-sighted bunch.

It doesn't paint us in a very good light, that's for sure.

But both Hart and McInturff contend that Obama wasn't the only party damaged by the debt ceiling debacle.

A whopping 82 percent now disapprove of the job Congress is doing. In the history of this poll, it's an all-time high level of dissatisfaction with Capitol Hill.

In addition, when asked who is most to blame for the S&P downgrade, a plurality points to congressional Republicans.

And a majority of respondents say they would vote out every single member of Congress if they could.
