October Sky sure was a good movie, based on a good book called the "Rocket Boys." True story.
That movie always reminds me of an old mutual friend of Loop's and mine, and longtime IDCC shareholder "Rookie" Dickerson. He posted under the name "rtd" until he passed away in 2004. He coached and taught for over 50 years, the last 30 or so at the U of Houston. He was from that area of southern West Virginia, I believe near Beckley. And his arch rival when he was playing ball in High School was Big Creek High School, which is the High School the rocket boys attended in War, West Virginia.
I expect those football teams from those coal mining towns up in the mountains were plenty tough.
I believe Gamco from the other board is from that New River area of West Virginia as well. I guess we have IDCC longs/posters from nearly every state and many foreign countries too... like California, LOL!
