With the phone company they had a set way to fire a worker. He had to be called in and warned about a problem. If it occured again, he was suppended for one day, If it occured again, he was suppended for three days. If it occured again he was suppended for a week. If it occured again, he was suppended for two weeks. If is occured again, then he was fired. This all had to occur within one year. If a year passed from the first warning, the process had to start over. I only saw one employee fired.
