The present value of Social Security and Medicare obligations are on the order of FIFTY TRILLION DOLLARS.
That's about $177,000 for every person in the United States. Do all of YOU have enough money lying around to pay your family's portion of this cost? (because the government sure doesn't have it.)
Do you understand that you will have to pay it, not for your own benefit, but for someone else's - that "someone" being a person who will likely receive far more in benefits today than he ever contributed himself?
And do you realize that because of America's aging workforce and diminishing contributions, Social Security and Medicare probably won't be of much help when YOU need them?
