Perhaps if we had not had to fund a couple of expensive, and in at least one case illegal, wars, perhaps we could have had sufficient funds to maintain our nations infrastructure:

And if we had paid attention to Nobel Economist Paul Krugman and doubled the amount of the stimulus, spending most all of it on infrastructure projects, perhaps a few more people wouldn't be sitting in the dark, or be stranded somewhere due to a bridge being washed away or maybe even a few less families morning the loss of a loved one.

3.3 Million Still Without Power

About 3.3 million homes and businesses are still without power Tuesday morning as parts of the Northeast are still under water left by Hurricane Irene. The Department of Energy said there are more than half a million blackouts each in Connecticut and New York; more than 400,000 in Virginia; more than 350,000 each in Massachusetts and New Jersey; nearly 300,000 in Pennsylvania.

About a third of the entire states of Connecticut and Rhode Island are without electricity.
