Beldin> But, how did this "ungodly complicated cellular mechanics" (your words) get started and where did the design come from?

Dear Beldin,
First, a piece of my own personal credo.
"I can neither confirm nor deny the existence of God."

Now, as to 'where the ungodly complicated cellular
mechanics' come from . . .

I've dabbled in computer programming. Starting with
a simple concept of what I want the program to do, I
get a not too complex program. Then - especially
when I was working in BASIC - I decide to 'add a new
function' to my program . . and it gets more complicated.
And more convulated . . .

How did we get from the simple text editors of
yesteryear . . . to todays Microsoft Office.

Can anyone understand the Internet? Sure, it started
out as something not too complicated . . . but today?

Bottom line, in every one of today's microcomputer
chips we have a transistor which is either On, or OFF.

Simlarly, somewhere in the bottom-most workings of
a cell, there is a simple chemical reaction.
Predictable and reliable.

Did God set up a framework and start what we today
interpret as "The Theory of Evolution" ? Perhaps.

And it is a theory. No doubt. It'll almost certainly
be rewritten . . . But, as I see it, understanding
this 'theory' gives us a framework for working
hypothesis on how our bodies work - enabling new
wonder drugs to be developed.

We got these 'super bug' new germs . . . mutations on
old germs and the old drugs won't kill them any more.
How? Why? The theory of evolution offers solutions
and will suggest new avenues for treatment.

"God Did It" has no solutions. Your sick, no hope
for you . . you gonna die. I'd rather try evolution
and hope somebody can crank a cure out of some facet
of it.

Zim.
