Hi 4321,

Fair enough. I really don't think anyone thinks thoughts that are much different to anyone else's at this point. It is just the perspective we are presenting at any point in time.

Certainly it would be nice to hear some folks, such as yourself (or for that matter the cynics), simply concede the facts of the present: whatever predictions have been made, it is the cautions that have won the growth argument up to now (rather than the extreme optimism or the extreme pessimism). There has been growth and it has been hard won and only gradual. It's cool that TPMs and SEDs are out there. It would be a lot cooler if folks chose to rely upon them and employed Wave's tools in numbers.

Folks like myself and tkc are willing to allow a changed environment in the future. But we are not willing to depend upon it, nor are we going to be satisfied by architectural developments at some uncertain future date. The end destination is somewhere one hopes to reach, but we live in the journey. This is no longer a discussion in which vision is the only relevant part of the discussion. Measurement matters.

It is a construct of measurement-type thinking which sees the significance in the increase in the employee roll. This isn't only a techie's province, nor are visionaries (who may or may not be techies) the necessary ingredient of any conversation about the future. Increasingly, beans count.

Hi alea,

"When it is laid on extra thick - as you have the slight tendency to do - I will tend to treat it as if it belongs to Pandora. To be sanitised, it requires its caveats - so I am glad to see you give your uncertainty its proper place in this latest post. Apparently you have no better idea than I do as the timing falls outside your sphere of knowledge (rather than influence in this case).

I think I said some time ago, I gave up trying to guess when everything will kick in and Wave's Revenue stream will take off. I think I said it will happen when it happens, not when I say it should happen. (words to that effect)

Certainly your opinion or anyone else’s is as valid on the timing of all this "stuff".

I don't guess at it any more, I spend time studying the technologies associated with Wave's products to better understand the "trusted computing space" and what they are trying to accomplish.

BTW, I like door # 1
Laughing
