Great post as usual loop. IMO, Apple knew going into the Nortel process that those patents were theirs to win. I think Apple determined that it made sense to settle with Nokia based on Nokias "formula" with a strategy in mind. Now, Apple will or has gone back to Nokia to ask for their money back for a cross license agreement since the Nortel patents + Apples patents = a stalemate. With the purchase of Interdigital, Apple will go back to Nokia using Nokias "formula" to get paid on EVERY device. IMO, the battle with Nok will then begin again with Nokia painting themselves in a corner with their own formula. Nokia was desperate for a "win" and they got it when Apple settled but in their haste to trumpet their victory they got setup for a sucker punch. Nokis deserves this imo. IMO Apple will win these Patents and will even go after QCOM to get paid. lol. Didnt data say that the settlement Nokia made with Apple would result in no litigation through the license? lol. I believe the opposite. "But what do I know" LOL. Actually 16 year old girls use "BWDIK" as we learned from Data. Have a good weekend.
I think the downplay by WM of Lte a few CC's ago has many of these confused. It was unfortunate that our last CC was cancelled because I believe it would have cleared up his previous statements. Nok was the first to net/net cross-licensing when they believed they had the lion's share of patents. If Apple acquires IDCC giving them more Lte IPR than Nok, Nok pays under their own formula. Nok also pays for 5 years of 3g and they will have to produce sales reports this time.
