Ah, clo, you silly ol' cow, there most certainly is a connection, but you're too willingly blind to see the truth of it.

The Civil Rights Movement was about freedom from discrimination ... blacks were sick and tired of being treated like second-class citizens in their own country. Well, the fight for less taxation and less government intrusion into our everyday lives is about freedom from discrimination, as well ... productive, hardworking Americans are sick and tired of being treated like second-class citizens whose personal rights are ignored with prejudice in favor of buying power for would-be political elites.

Huh? Rick Perry Connects Civil Rights Movement To Fight For Lower Taxes

Written by NewsOne Staff on August 23, 2011 3:38 pm

Presidential candidate and Texas Governor Rick Perry recently said on a campaign stop in South Carolina that the Civil Rights movement is similar to the GOP’s current fight for lower taxes.

“Listen, America’s gone a long way from the standpoint of civil rights and thank God we have,”said the Texas governor. “We’ve gone from a country that made great strides in issues of civil rights, I think we all can be proud of that. And as we go forward, America needs to be about freedom. It needs to be about freedom from overtaxation, freedom from over-litigation, freedom from over-regulation. And Americans, regardless of what their cultural or ethnic background is, they need to know that they can come to America and you got a chance to have any dream come true because the economic climate is gonna be improved.”

The question came in response to a reporter asking a question about the “Freedom Nine” sit-ins.
